Crappie are starting to move shallow biting on minnows or jigs. ![]() Catfish are on shallow flats in 6-12 feet of water biting fresh cut shad or punch bait. Water lightly stained 50 degrees 6.21 feet below pool. ![]() ![]() Despite the high winds last week reports of big crappie biting at the Crappie House on minnows. Water clear 52 degrees 10.67 feet below pool. Report by Captain Raul Cordero, Far West Guide Service.įAIR. Catfish are good in 30-60 feet of water on cheese bait, chicken liver and cut shad. White bass and stripers are good around the birds and bait balls in 40-60 feet of water using jiggins spoons, blades, rattletraps or lil George. Bass are fair on Texas rigged senkos, lizards or worms, rattletraps, and jigs in 8-10 feet of water. Water stained 58 degrees 36.79 feet below pool. Third place was Ken Scarborough with a #9.55 limit anchored by the big bass of the day at #4.13.GOOD. Rick Shock was less than a pound back, his five fish weighing in at #10.99 earning second place. On Sunday Ricky Bishop showed out with a full creel for #11.90 to top the podium. Ryan Watkins’ 5 fish bag of #9.66 was good for second place, and Trevor Rogge was close behind, rounding out the podium with 5 fish that weighed in for #8.94. Overall fishing was tough not for numbers, but for keepers.Ĭliff Martinez captured the top spot Saturday with a five fish limit of #12.41 including a #4.46 kicker that was good enough for big bass on the day. 16 anglers made the trip and found typical conditions for late spring with temperatures in the mid 80’s and light winds from the south. The final stop for the 2023 TBN South Region regular season was a doubleheader on Lake Amistad, 20 and 21 May. ![]()
